This new building functions primarily as the administrative and training centre for the recently established Centre for Health Economics of the University of the West Indies. It includes a conference centre/multi-purpose hall, which seats approximately 250 people and smaller meeting rooms as well as training facilities and research spaces.
The building is arranged in an L shape with separate entrances to the conference facility and to the communal lobby for the offices that are arranged on three floors. The building is constructed in reinforced concrete with lightweight steel roof structures. The design incorporates overhangs and external shading devices to lower the heat loading from the exterior and to improve the efficiency of the internal air conditioning systems.
