The aim of the project is to develop a modern, urban residential development on a challenging site comprising approximately 1.1 hectares of sloping land. The site lies adjacent to the Naparima Mayaro Road, which serves as a main artery into the city of San Fernando. The project aim is to provide medium to high density housing to encourage social responsibility and community living. As well as the buildings, there are to be open communal, landscaped areas for children to play and adults to supervise them. There are other communal facilities, such as a parlour, homework centre and basketball court.
The accommodation is provided in 3 blocks, each of which has an exterior balcony. The majority of the 78 apartments have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a small number of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments also available. Each block is arranged to maximise the potential of the site in articulated volumes that provide a dynamic profile and views from the apartments.
The project also includes for widening the pavement to allow for planting trees and the siting of benches. Pedestrian access to the blocks is via pedestrian bridges located in this area. At either end of the complex are sited civic plazas, which encourage linkages into the surrounding urban context and provide shaded external areas for people to engage with each other.
